PENOBSCOT
This series focuses on the Penobscot River and Bay, a stones throw from my home + studio in Stockton Springs, Maine. I spent my childhood on the shores of Lake Ontario and then a decade in South Louisiana exploring the Gulf of Mexico and particularly the brackish waters that married land and sea. Now the Atlantic Ocean is at my doorstep; The mystery, fear, and my obsession with water and the life it contains has always been present in my thoughts and musings and my experience as a printmaker, a decorative artisan, and passion for textile arts are reimagined in paint and mixed media to illustrate the wonders of these waters with its incredible plant and animal life. Color and pattern become focal points through texture, luminosity, and joyous compositions.
